Thank you for joining/inquiring about our Belted Galloway Society Junior Youth Group. We are here to serve and help you. We will also try to give you knowledge on how to raise and show your Belted Galloways. The BYG committee and its directors will give you continued support. The Belted Galloway Society recognizes all that you do in helping promote the breed.
You may have asked yourself what do l get if I join?? The Belted Youth Group strives to promote an effective organization, whereby junior breeders can join together for mutual assistance, to promote a comprehensive program to benefit its members and to contribute to the popularity, promotion and betterment of the breed.
The Society seeks to cooperate with existing animal industry agencies as well as state and national Belted Galloway Associations. We try to cultivate leadership and fellowship through promotions and activities with Belted Galloway cattle. We have done many things and always have some educational, fun-type activities We try to teach that showing is for learning and fun, not just winning. We attend annual meetings and try to support any junior showing anywhere in the US. We also sponsor BYG shows, rewarding each junior member for showing.
We have had many rewards and contests. We have a yearly "Member and Exhibitor" of the year contest. We have had steer programs, and our perpetual heifer project. Our A.I. Project gives any BYG member the opportunity to use progressive genetics when making their mating decisions. Members are entitled to apply for our Chatfield Scholarship Fund for all college bound members.
We hope that we can all learn and have fun together. Owning a beef animal is a lot of work, but you will learning many things. You will learn responsibility, become involved with the cattle, and make new fiends with other junior members. We hope by being a junior member you will become involved with the BGS and Beltie Galloways for the rest of your life.
We hope that you enjoy being a member. We are looking forward to meeting and working with you. After all, the future of the Belted Galloway breed is in the hands of our youth, YOU!
